EXPERIENCE WITH ROOMMATES

Roommates can either make or mar you. My experience with roommates is a mixed experience. There are some roommates that will be jealous of your progress and some are there to support you and your ideas and to even encourage you to move forward. There are some that see no good in anything you do because you do not support their none-sincere positions or think in their directions and so they will see you like nobody. This their conclusion about you may affect your relationship with them or others as they can paint you blue-green or black before your other friends.

Some roommates see you as too holy, no going area just because you did not do the praises they expected you to sing. I think I am not a person that moves in the midst of the ungodly or sit in the midst of the scornful or stand in the midst of those that doesn't see good in their fellow humans and so we cannot cohabit.

I am not saying I am a perfect human being but I am morally okay and once I see you are going astray or not truthful or sincere, I tend to disassociate myself from that kind of group of people. I am easy to mingle out with, accommodate people and give them the benefit of doubt and open to people and strangers but once I see you going astray I cut you off because you may implicate me and those around me.

I had harbored a friend that I know for more than four years as a colleague in my former place of work for close to three months in Malaysia during my Ph.D. programme as a self-sponsor student myself. This friend, I told him my experience and how I was able to pay for my bills in the strange land, that he can do same and pay his debt but all advice fell in his left ears that he could not work as a freelance or learn some skills that could help him out rather than going back to Nigeria to source for money for his programme. Well, I advised him that many people at home expected us them to send them money from here and so it won't be a nice thing to embark upon that journey to Nigeria, that was my offense. One day he was sleeping and messages started coming into his phone continuously and I called him, he was fast asleep and I saw what is the problem that more than 50 messages entering his phone at a time. I saw his negative conversations about me with his wife on the phone through text messages. This friend of mine was to be given RM1,000 (100,000 naira equivalent in 2018) for his traveling back home (Nigeria) which I promised him that when I get the money from the work I did for my customers, I will borrow him to by his ticket for his journey, when I saw all his bite biting and evil conversations about me with his wife. This is a roommate that I harbored for three months without money or food in my rented room at Petaling Jaya (PJ). He was telling his wife that I will prepared food and give him small, saying a mad friend of his is ready to give him RM1,000. This is one of the bad experiences with a close friend and roommate! That is why the scripture says "a man's enemies will be the members of his own household (Mathew 10:36)"

I had another roommate that just hates you for any progress you are making in your studies. People will just hate you for doing great just because they don't know how God is paying all your bills without grants or scholarships as they had from the Federal government back from Nigeria for their studies. Many of these people got as much as Twenty Million Naira (#20,000,000) and low as Twelve Million Naira (#12,000,000). It is a thug of war when they expect you to beg from them but see you that you live within your means and never look at them for any help or so, and so they will see you as a scam that how on earth will someone not doing work or job but was able to pay his heavy bills every semester that you must be doing a bad thing. People are like that when they see you create a business idea like Youtube Videos, E-commerce idea such as (https://limitlessbudget.com) or website (https://digiwealth.biz) they see you as a scam, that you have scam everyone in the world for such ideas that they lack themselves.

While some roommates are eager to learn from you and build their own from there. I have many roommates and friends like that, who are willing to learn some tips from you or your Youtube videos on anything ranging from research in academics to online businesses and app/website creation, others see no good from your end. I think that is the nature of man, but, one needs to move forward as everyone cannot be happy with your progress either academically, financially, or businesswise even in your own family.

I have come to realize that one with God is a majority as I don't have permanent friends, but permanent interests! This world is full of hatred, as Jesus told His disciples, they will be hates for standing for the just and truth but they should cheer up for they have overcome the world (John 16:33).

I have overcome and I am a winner! I value good friends, ones that are progressives not retrogressive in nature.
